Third edition of GreenEvo project

There is less than a month left for submitting Polish ecotechnologies to the GreenEvo project. This year the Ministry of the Environment is looking for solutions in the area of counteracting climate change, ecological energy production, as well as environmentally friendly technologies for mining industry.

The environmental technology market is one of the most dynamically developing sectors of the global economy. The GreenEvo - Technology Accelerator project developed by the Ministry of the Environment, which has been in operation since 2009, supports Polish small and medium-sized enterprises that offer ecological solutions and helps them enter foreign markets.

"The group of GreenEvo leaders already includes thirty carefully selected and tested Polish green technologies, e.g. in the area of waste management, energy efficiency, water management or geothermal energy. The experiences of the prize winners of the editions held to date prove that intense support obtained by the companies within the programme facilitates competitive management and increases chances for economic success," says Minister Janusz Zaleski, Under-Secretary of State in the Ministry of the Environment. "We believe that the third edition of the competition will let next innovative environmentally friendly solutions emerge; solutions which are going to be a Polish showcase on the green technologies market.”

Applications to the third edition of GreenEvo are accepted from 2 January to 29 February this year. This time an innovation has been introduced in the form of a subdivision into areas of technology within which projects are going to be selected, including solutions for the mining industry and systems that support monitoring and collecting information on the natural environment.

Moreover, participation in the GreenEvo project is open to solutions in the area of renewable energy sources (biofuel and biomass, fuel and solar cells, small water energy, wind energy, geothermal energy), solutions supporting energy and materials economy (cogeneration, energy storage, solutions promoting energy economy in construction industry, software supporting energy utilization optimization, recycling of materials used in the industry), as well as technologies for climate conservation (reduction of greenhouse gases emission in the industry, capture and storage of carbon dioxide). Applications submitted via a form available at www.greenevo.gov.pl will be accepted until 29 February.

At the first stage of the competition, jury composed of experts in the area of technology transfer and environmental solutions are going to select the best projects, taking into account their scientific and technological evaluation, modernity, export potential and utility.

Selected solutions are going to obtain the unique advisory and training offer of the GreenEvo project, which will enable their development on international markets and give them a chance to conquer foreign markets. GreenEvo prize winners are going to be able to take part in commercial missions together with the representatives of the Polish government, as well as in seminars and conferences on the green technology market. The companies are also going to receive individual counselling and subject matter support from the GreenEvo experts.

The project offers also a broad offer of training sessions conducted by the best Polish specialists, as well as the presentation of the technologies in the "GreenEvo – Liderzy polskich zielonych technologii” ("GreenEvo - Polish green technology leaders") catalogue.

During the two editions of the GreenEvo project, 30 green technologies tested in Poland were selected. The companies taking part in the project of the Ministry of the Environment have promoted their solutions all over the world, e.g. in China, India, Thailand, Kazakhstan, Vietnam, Armenia, Azerbaijan, United Arab Emirates, Russia, France, Norway, Algeria, Moldova, Croatia, Ukraine and Belarus. Many of them have already managed to establish trading connections which have led to their cooperation with foreign partners.

During the implementation of the GreenEvo project, the Ministry of the Environment cooperates with the Economic, Foreign Affairs, Science and Higher Education Departments, the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management, the Polish Agency for Enterprise Development, the Patent Office of the Republic of Poland and the Faculty of Management at the University of Warsaw.

The GreenEvo project is financed from the funds of the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management.
